A turn-key or a turn-key project is a type of project that is constructed by a developer and sold or turned over to a buyer in a ready-to-use condition.
it’s basically a website someone makes and sells immediately after it’s ready.
This means there could be numerous bugs, glitches, security flaws, etc.

A turn-key site would be one that has ‘hooks’ somewhere that you can customize (company name, email, etc.) but is ready to run as is. It’s like an off-the-rack suit. You can add a handkerchief, but it’s the right size, the pants are the right length, etc.
Are they good for anything? If you have a need for exactly what the turn-key site does, sure. They’re a lot cheaper than custom-written sites. But the odds of finding one that exactly meets your needs are probably about the same as the odds of finding this week’s big lottery winner lying in a parking lot.
(Turn-key sites can be full of bugs, or they can be well-written and virtually bug-free – the same as custom-written sites.)
